Diya was born on August 16th, 2006 and baptised on September 2nd, 2006. She was christened Diya Maryann. Diya brought joy into the lives of her parents and grandparents. She was the answer to their prayers. She was a small baby but soon caught up with other children her age.
Diya’s first school was Green Park. 'Indu ' her first teacher. Green Park taught her to sing and play. She enjoyed her trips to the play school. Sushma Miss another favourite teacher. Her friend, Andrea.
When her little brother Nathan arrived, she was excited. She joined Rajagiri Christ Jayanthi Kindergarten. LKG A with Sheeba Miss was fun she said. Fr Mampilly and Mrs Beena Simon kept her disciplined. Reading, writing, singing, drawing and most importantly swimming was so much fun. And Diya didn't miss any of it.
She represented the school for Kids Fest in Rajagiri and won the 'Story Telling' competition. Her story was 'Zelda the Zebra'.
Diya learnt swimming and came home with a trophy to the surprise of everyone. Clearly a winner from the start.
Big school meant more to study. Nothing deterred her, she wanted to be the best in whatever she did. Her dream job then ' to be like Amma'. Years went by so quickly. She never missed an opportunity to be on stage. She loved every moment of it. Her cherished memory always was winning the General Proficiency making everyone proud. And then representing the school in skating and becoming the Runner's Up. Her winning spree continued.
Her regret? that she couldn't run as fast as the others. Every Sports Day was disappointing. But thats okay, she had other skills .
Interest in playing music soon captivated her. She cleared four grades in keyboard and one in piano. She tried her hand at the violin too, her birthday gift for her 12th birthday.
