Diya you are always with me!

We used to play a lot. It was really fun. But those days are over. I wish i could bring them back but i can’t. The best I can do is imagine your presence in real life even though I know you are beside me every second of the day. I didn’t expect you to leave. But I know one thing. You are always with me. No matter what fight we had, whatever we did was important. It creates so many memories, like rock climbing and all of that. Diya I know you can see me and what I wish for is for my loved ones to come back to me.

An Angel in Heaven

An angel in heaven 
Lived with God. 
His commands he performed
And errands he ran.

It is a year since you left us. Your memories will never fade, they remain alive. I live hoping to see you one day. Intercede for us dear Diya. We miss you deeply. We know you are in your maker's presence where you should be.

Her Favourite Things

Books! Enid Blyton was Diya’s favourite, then Geronimo Stilton, TinTin, Ruskin Bond and Nancy Drew.

Music. Diya played the keyboard for her church children's choir, she was learning the violin too. Her Favorite Hymn — In Christ Alone... she listened to it often when in bed.

​Art. She dabbled with painting, her first painting cheerfully bought at a sale by Aunty Sheela.

​Cooking and cookery shows. Diya baked cakes and muffins, the icing on the cake was the icing on the cake!

​Home food. Diya loved her Saturday afternoon lunch sambar and red beans. Other days she enjoyed mummy's lunch. Snack Box had to be exotic sandwiches from Amma. She made sure her friends enjoyed it too.

Dancing. Secretly filmed her elegant dance moves. Orchestrated her cousin’s wedding events. 

​Her brother. Nathan is Diya’s troublesome (but doting!) little brother whom she feels responsible for. He follows her every instruction. She loved it when her friends tell her she has ‘such a cute brother’.

Remembering Diya

She was always very special. Loving and caring. Gentle and well-mannered. Intelligent and grounded. Smart yet soft-spoken. Talented and intuitive. Cheerful and cherubic. And I could go on.

But who knew, this little child was meant to walk this earth only briefly! Diya was diagnosed with a brain tumour on October 22nd, 2018. She suffered pain and agony with a lot of resilience. We kept our faith, but the Lord had better plans for her. She passed away on December 29th, 2018, with her whole family beside her. We believe that our little angel has ascended into the Lord's kingdom to prepare a place for us. Until then, the memories of her will linger on.

They Were Always Praying for Diya

Diya was blessed with prayer support from many good souls. All the names cannot be listed here but some names have been mentioned. They were more often than not by her bedside on their knees, pleading with Our Lord Jesus to heal her. She suffered a lot, no doubt, she was silent, bearing her cross most stoically. A twelve-year-old resigned to God's will for her, composed and looking forward to “heaven where there is no pain”.

Her catechism teachers, her school teachers, friends, relatives, Appa and Amma's friends, Noel Arcadia. Her death was holy and peaceful through continuous intercession with fasting. She passed away at home in the arms of Louis surrounded by family and friends.

Her face continued to remain fresh, angelic and made for heaven.
